For teenagers today, chat apps are more than just a way to send messages — they are the sources for socializing, learning, gaming, and just for creativity. From AI chatbots to personalized avatars, these apps have allowed creative and engaging ways for young people to use them for various needs. But what exactly makes AI useful for teens and appeal to teens?
Discord & Snapchat
We can answer the question in AI-orientated apps like Discord and Snapchat. Discord started as a gamer’s chat platform, but it has transformed to become a favorite for all kinds of teens. AI bots are integrated into the system by moderating languages and having programmed to act automatically.
On Snapchat, AI is seen on filters, where AI-powered lenses use facial recognition to add effects to users’ photos and videos. Snapchat also uses AI to generate personalized Bitmojis that resemble users.
Similarly to AI on Discord and Snapchat, GetGPT is one of the platforms that allow students to use the power of AI to build interactive apps. In this blog, I will walk you through how to make apps on GetGPT, focusing on features that are related to teens, both academic and creative ones.
Why Choose GetGPT?
GetGPT is a user-friendly AI platform that enables users to create personalized AI-tools quickly. Whether it is a chatbot, game, or a simple interactive tool, GetGPT allows us to integrate smart features into your app without being an expert in this field.
For teens, personally, these kinds of apps need to be functional yet fun and creative. Here is how you can create those apps on GetGPT:
Step 1: Brainstorming Your App Idea
Before creating an app, it is important to decide what kind of app you want to make. Think about the purpose of making it and how you want it to result in. Some ideas can be, but not limited to: chatbots, story generators, AI-generating online friend and more.
Think of the ways that you can attract the users.
Step 2: Setting Up Your GetGPT Project
Start by clicking on one of the featured apps or “create a new app.” Featured apps provide us with chatbot, interactive app, document app, etc.
Remember what your purpose was in creating this app. There will be a type of app that goes well with what you were thinking about.
Step 3: Fill Out the “General Information” Stage
- Come up with a title. A title plays a big role in attracting users, so you might take some time to think about it.
- Write a description about your app. You can include anything about how your app wants to be looked like, how you want it to function, the purpose of this app, etc.
- If your making a chatbot, then write a greeting message that will allow the users to initiate their use.
Step 4: Write Down the Prompt
The next step is to write the prompt. This is to tell the AI what to do when the users give them input. For example, if you want them to summarize a book that they wrote down, write down, “summarize the book and give them an analysis”
Step 5: Give Examples for the Users
Provide users with some examples of how to use your app. This will guide the users to utilize your app accurately. The examples are available to the users when they click the “example” button on the top right corner of your app.
Step 6: How Do You Want to Design Your App?
Final step! You get to have the opportunity to design your app. You can add related emojis, and images and change the color of your app. Or you can decide to do none of them and keep it simple; it is totally up to you. You can also name the “Action button,” where the users will click to see the output of their input. If you are all down with them, publish!
How do you like your app? If you see any edits you want to make, you can always click the “edit” button at the bottom of your app. Share your amazing app to your friends and family!
*Outcomes
These are the outcomes. I created one chatbot, which imitates historians, offering users to communicate with virtual historians. Another app is a simple app, it is a high school buddy that helps your mental health or gives advice for an issue you might have.
Now, with GetGPT, you can create your own app that is just as engaging, interactive, and fun for teenagers as Discord and Snapchat.
